Engineer in proteomics (permanent position)

Proteomics Platform of the University of Poitiers

Deadline: 1 December 2022 (CEST)

Expected Start : January 2023

Job : Engineer in proteomics

Level : Engineer (Master level)

Posting : ProteomeUP Platform, University Hospital of Poitiers, France

FUNCTION: Mass Spectrometry (Proteomics) Engineer

The proteomics platform is located within the Pôle Biologie Santé (PBS) of the University of Poitiers. The main activity will consist in diagnosis by identification of proteins from amyloid deposits for the Amyloidosis Reference Centre within the University Hospital of Poitiers (in association with the CRIBL lab in Limoges, CNRS UMR7276 INSERM U1262). Our other activities focus on the purification, identification and characterisation of proteins and molecules in general. The department’s correspondents are biologist or medical researchers, PhD students and some associated laboratories. The research topics are therefore multidisciplinary.

– You will carry out proteomic analyses by LC-MS and LC-MS/MS on a Q-TOF mass spectrometer (Synapt G2 HDMS Waters) with an ion mobility cell

– You will be responsible for sample preparation (in particular laser microdissection of samples from histological sections, a technique that we master and for which you will be trained), mass spectrometry analyses, data processing (identification of proteins by consulting databases) and interpretation of results. In addition, you will be responsible for the advanced maintenance of the equipment.

– You will be able to develop new protocols specifically adapted to each problem, in conjunction with the doctors, researchers and the platform manager.

– You will write analysis reports and be able to present your results at conferences.

– You will be able to supervise and train trainees.

– You are a biochemist or biomolecular chemist (minimum 5 years of higher education).

– You have already confirmed experience in mass spectrometry (high resolution, MS- MS/MS) coupled with chromatography (LC, GC) and applied to proteomics.

– You are able to ensure the advanced maintenance of a mass spectrometer.

– You have an excellent command of the interpretation of fragmentation spectra for the identification and characterisation of proteins (CID and ETD spectra).

– You are familiar with database interrogation tools (Mascot, PLGS).

– You have notions of bioinformatics allowing you to interact with specialists and to manipulate data.

– Basic knowledges in immunology and immunoglobulins will be appreciated
