Biomarker Discovery & Validated Assays, Mass Spec Technical Sales Specialist:

As a member of the team, you’ll be involved in the sales and related support activities for Thermo Fisher Scientific Life Science & Laboratory Products Group, Biosciences Division, Protein & Cell Analysis to North America accounts. The portfolio contains innovative, high-quality reagents for ELISA, Luminex Multiplexing, Mass Spectrometry, Gene Expression, and Cell Health. This role will solely support Mass Spec consumables, including labeling and sample prep reagents. We cater to researchers worldwide that empower the process of scientific discovery with a strong focus on applied markets, protein discovery, cellular immunity, immunotherapy, toxicology, and oncology.

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a BA or BS in Biology, Immunology or related field, preferred M.Sc. or PhD
Previous lab and/or sales experience with Mass Spec, with a preference for those who also have awareness/exposure to Immunoassays and gene expression is preferred
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to travel overnight travel up to 50% of the time
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Required Qualifications:

Strong technical background with a minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in a research laboratory setting
Background and familiarity with customers in drug discovery, including developing Screening Assays and Biomarker Discovery
Selling experience in Mass Spec, Immunoassays, Biomarker Screening Tools, and/or Gene Expression, preferred
Customer-centric mentality & focus
Organizational skills with the ability to move to plan to action
Clear and concise written and verbal communication, with ability to deliver impactful oral presentations
Works well both independently and in collaboration with the broader team
Driven and motivated to achieve personal and team goals
Ability and willingness to work remotely and travel
Practical problem solver who addresses a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Partners with the team to tackle problems, negotiate solutions and arrive at a consensus
Demonstrates a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a “can do” attitude

Key Responsibilities:

Achievement of assigned territory sales goals
Providing deep knowledge of the workflows around mass spec
Proactively calling on existing and potential new customers via field visits, web conferences and telephone
Work closely with Thermo Fisher counterparts to develop specific account growth strategy and account mapping
Serve as a technical resource to Thermo Fisher Scientific counterparts in the areas of Mass Spec
Qualify sales leads, prospect for new business, and support existing opportunities to generate a strong & robust funnel; forecast on a regular basis
Coordinate and/or conduct both technical and promotional seminars
Prepare and implement Territory Sales Plans and update regularly
Collect and share competitive intelligence and market feedback
Assist with post sales technical support and customer service; field customer complaints/product quality problems and communicate to the appropriate functions
Participate in trade shows, vendor shows, and related activities as requested
Contribute to and complete special projects as requested
Provide mentorship when applicable
