U.S. Food and Drug Administration/Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition
The Spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry Branch of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) in College Park, Maryland seeks a temporary researcher with a Doctoral degree to participate in our food safety research program. To support its mission, the FDA is developing and implementing non-targeted screening approaches using liquid chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC/HR-MS) for food safety purposes. The selected candidate will assist in the development and evaluation of these methods to evaluate the chemical content of complex sample types. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or a related field. Desired experience includes LC/HR-MS data acquisition and processing, identification of unknown compounds, metabolomics, database/library curation, LC retention time prediction, semi-quantitation of unknowns, and/or Compound Discoverer node development/programming ability.
U.S. citizenship, permanent resident status, or a valid J1 Visa is required (F1 with OPT is acceptable until a J1 is obtained). Applicants must have been living in the United States for at least a total of 3 out of the past 5 years and pass a background check. The start date is negotiable. Salary is dependent upon experience. Duration: 1 year with possibility of renewal.
