Past Recipients

Sarah Brown Riley, 2020 Recipient
Dr. Sarah Brown Riley took on the daunting task of modernizing a major toxicology facility for her state where she revamped the entire toxicology lab implementing LC-MS/MS and thus increasing throughput, decreasing LODs and expanding the test menu. This required both technical skill and leadership acumen. Sarah is active in teaching mass spectrometry principles and applications to residents, fellows, medical students, medical examiners, and forensic science students, and collaborates closely with local hospitals. Sarah volunteers with Pathologists Overseas and has helped set up a number of clinical laboratories in Haiti where she had the wisdom to teach lab methods that were entirely manual and for which there was adequate non- proprietary supply chain of reagents. Sarah truly exemplifies a female in mass spectrometry deserving of this award.
